Although patients have rights, they have some responsibilities in order to provide health services effectively and efficiently.First of all, in order to provide services without interruption in the health institutions for patients it is necessary to that they follow with the determined rules.

Patients must carefully stick to their appointment dates and times.They should notify in advance when they cannot come to their appointment. Patients should respect the time of the doctors and healthcare workers and not engage them unnecessarily things or coming without appointment. Patients should not request privileges and favors except for the medical priorities required by their medical condition.They should not attempt to abuse the priorities and benefits provided by emergency and first aid services.

Patient companions and visitors should not act in a way that will impair hospital cleanliness and hygiene. Patient companions and visitors should not make noise in the hospital and avoid behaviors that may disrupt the general peace . They are not allowed to bring food to the hospital that does not comply with the patient's diet, and they should treat healthcare professionals according to the rules of respect and etiquette.

Patients should not attempt to establish psychological, social and physical pressure in a way that limits the freedom of physicians and healthcare professionals to make independent decision-making in the light of professional knowledge and principles. Without medical indications the patients cannot request to get benefit from the services offered by social security institutions in unfair and irregular ways.Patients are not allowed to ask for unrealistic documents  to be issued about their health status.It is unacceptable that patients give false or incomplete information to physicians and healthcare professionals or hide some facts.Patients should be correctly identified their IDs, addresses and telephones and give reasonable answers to the questions.

Patients can refuse a recommended treatment. However, in this case, they should clearly tell their physicians whether they prefer alternative treatment or not. The patient who accepts the proposed treatment should comply with this treatment and apply it as described. In cases of life-threatening or severe negative consequences, the patient who  refused the recommended treatment cannot refuse the request of the physician and the health institution who wish to write this preference in a document.

If patients do not wish to receive information about their illness, they should first state this to their physician and explain the people whom they do not want to be informed about the disease.

When patients receive enough information, they cannot avoid making decisions about which treatment to apply to them.Patients should collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals at every stage during the diagnosis and treatment process and they should do their best to gain the knowledge and the instructions they receive. If the patient is performing two treatments at the same time, he must inform his doctors about this. Patients should not conceal the reports, films, or exams they receive from any medical institution or any doctor from any other doctor or other health institution they apply to.

The patient, who needs to be discharged or transferred to another institution, must take the necessary actions for the transplant within a reasonable time after this situation is reported to him. Patients cannot exclude files and other documents related to them without permission. After the patients are discharged, they should apply the treatment given to them at home and have outpatient checks as recommended.

If patients accepted to take their organs and tissues after their death and use them by others, they must write it in a document . In case of death or unconsciousness, the patient must announce in a document who responsible to make medical decisions instead of him. If the patient knows that he has an infectious disease that puts health care workers at risk, such as hepatitis and AIDS, he must first inform those who are involved in his diagnosis, treatment, and medical care.

Patients should not destroy medical facilities and equipment.they should take care of protecting the devices and the medical objects from damage. Patients are not allowed to use hospitals to get shelter, food or luxury.
