The Thoracic Surgery Clinic of Dr. Siyami Ersek Chest, Heart and Vascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital has been providing education and healthcare services to Turkish medicine since 1962 and continues its work with two instructors, three chief residents, three specialists, and three residents.
Our clinic provides diagnosis and treatment for diseases of the lungs, trachea, esophagus, chest wall, mediastinum, and peritoneum (diaphragm). Among the most common diseases seen in our clinic are primary and secondary (lung-related or metastatic from other organs) malignant and benign tumors of the lungs and their complications, pneumothorax/pleurisy (accumulation of air and/or fluid in the chest cavity), chest wall deformities, diaphragmatic dysfunction and hiatal hernias, excessive sweating in the hands and armpits, and myasthenia gravis (fatigue disorder). Our clinic is proud of its success in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions requiring surgical methods.
Our hospital, being the first state hospital in Türkiye to house both thoracic and cardiovascular surgery departments, possesses the ability and experience to perform both cardiac and thoracic surgeries simultaneously when necessary. This quality has rightfully placed our hospital in a global position. Patients from various parts of Türkiye and the world are referred to our clinic and successfully diagnosed and treated.
Furthermore, our clinic has world-class knowledge and experience in treating patients who currently have or have had heart disease and who have been or will be treated with medication, stents, or surgery.
Our clinic also receives support from other hospitals and clinics when needed. In cases requiring the contribution of other branches (general surgery, cardiovascular surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, ENT, neurosurgery, etc.), our clinic and its staff, through their superior efforts and established social and professional connections, facilitate joint surgeries both within our hospital and with other hospitals, striving to prevent patient dissatisfaction.
Our clinic has extremely low complication rates in surgeries, rivaling those of developed countries worldwide. More importantly, our intraoperative mortality rate in surgeries performed at our clinic has been around 0% for the past ten years. The contribution of our hospital's other clinics to this success is undeniable. Cardiology, internal medicine, pulmonary diseases, radiology, infectious diseases, and nuclear medicine clinics and specialists contribute with great dedication to the completion of pre-operative preparations, while cardiovascular surgery and anesthesiology and resuscitation clinics and specialists contribute with great dedication during and after surgery.
Proud of its location and striving for improvement and success, our clinic promises world-class treatment by doing its best for its patients.
