At Dr. Siyami Ersek Hospital, outpatient and consultation services are provided as part of the pulmonary diseases unit. Our hospital has two pulmonary specialists and one outpatient chest clinic. On the same day, one doctor is providing outpatient services while the other is working as a consultant. We also provide consultations for outpatients, emergency room, intensive care unit, and ward patients to the thoracic surgery, cardiology, and cardiovascular surgery departments. Due to the high incidence of smoking in cardiology and pulmonary diseases, and the interplay between these organs, the coexistence of pulmonary and cardiology diseases is frequently observed.
In cases where heart diseases such as heart valve disease, heart failure, and cardiovascular disease coexist with lung diseases such as asthma, COPD, and bronchiectasis, these conditions are evaluated, treated, and followed up by our experienced physicians. These lung diseases fall into the chronic disease group. Patients with chronic diseases visit the outpatient clinics at regular intervals. This allows for closer monitoring of the disease process, as well as the development of additional health problems that may arise over the years. We have two respiratory function test rooms, one in the ward and one in the outpatient clinic. Special training is required for the correct use of our lung medications. Our lung medications are explained in detail by our nurses using drug samples. When respiratory allergies are suspected in patients who visit our outpatient clinic, a skin prick allergy test is performed, and recommendations and treatments are provided.
